The Oman Desert Marathon takes place in a very remote environment where the mobile phone communications are possible only on the first and the last days of the race. Our team will provide daily updates about all the runners and a service of incoming e-mail reserved to all participants. Photos, videos and news will be posted daily on the website and social media. No worries about your friends or family running the marathon, from home they will be regularly updated and be aware of what is going on

Oman Desert Marathon has also a guest program.

The guest program is limited before and after the race, to keep separated the runners from the guest and assure a fair competition to all runners.

Day 1:

11.00 – Transfer to the Oman Desert Marathon Basecamp. The travel time is about 3 hours and the transfer is provided by the organization.
14.00 – Lunch at the Oman Desert Marathon Basecamp. Food and soft drinks are provided by the organization.
19.00 – Dinner at the Oman Desert Marathon Basecamp. Food and soft drinks are provided by the organization.

Day 2:

7.30 – Breakfast at the Oman Desert Marathon Basecamp. Food and drinks are provided by the organization.
Transfer to the START LINE of the race and presence at the opening ceremony of Oman Desert Marathon and at the finish line.


Transfer from Muscat Airport to Oryx camp, meals and  night accommodation

Last day of race

6.30 AM: Transfer from Bidiyah to the Finish Line to see the runners finishing the race.
15.00 After race lunch, dinner and accommodation at the camp.

After Race

Day off at the warm springs and prize giving ceremony. Accommodation, food and drinks are provided by the organization.

6.30 – Transfer to Muscat International Airport

Day 1 – Arrival Muscat to Sharqyah sand.

Meet our English speaking chauffeur & start driving to Sharqyah Oryx camp direction,  The Sharqyah Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand and dunes rising up to 200 meters are also host to a variety of flora and fauna. The ever-changing patterns of the dunes are a photographers delight. Experience a roller coaster like feeling as our experienced drivers drive you over the dunes. The Wahiba Sands is also home to the traditional Bedouin tribe who are known for their hospitality and their knowledge of the sands. We will stop by a Bedouin family in their traditional and simple habitat, overnight accommodation  & dinner in  Desert Camp.

Day-02 The marathon start  – Ras al Hadd

We start with breakfast at the campsite – and a drive to Alwasil village near the Castle where you can see the marathon start flow the runners through the sand dunes and then continue on  our way to Ras al Hadd, the most eastern tip of the Arabian peninsula. From here we reach the natural resort of the Green Sea Turtles and in the late evening hours we will be able to witness the extraordinary sight of the female turtles approaching the beach in order to lay their eggs. Dinner and overnight at the Ras Al Had .

Day-03 Ras al Hadd – Sur – Muscat

The journey continues on a magnificent off-road track along the coastline. First we stop at the ancient ruins of Qalhat – an archaeological excavation site, once ruled by Bibi Mariyam. We enter Wadi Shaab for a refreshing walk – to enjoy the wild romantic beauty of the landscape. Later in the day we stop at the beach for a picnic lunch. The white beach of Fins invites for a swim in the Indian Ocean. The track continues between the limestone cliffs of the mountains and the blue ocean. Close to Quriyat we will take a short side trip to the famous “sinkhole “– a geological phenomenon that appears unexpectedly in the limestone plateau. In the afternoon we reach Muscat.

Day-04 Muscat City Tour

Muscat offers the visitors a rare opportunity to witness a modern centre existing in harmony with its traditional culture. With its natural harbor, Muscat, meaning ‘anchorage’, lies in a natural bowl. Our tour of the Grand Mosque (excluding Fridays) and Bait al Zubair Museum is a brief introduction that traces Oman’s history and development. After driving along the corniche to visit the fish market and colorful Mutrah Souq, we make a photo stop at the official palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the magnificent Al Alam Palace which is flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts Mirani and Jalali. (All visitors must be fully covered to wrists and ankles; ladies must wear a scarf covering hair and neck for a visit to the Grand Mosque.)

Day-05  Muscat – Nizwa – Bahla – Jabrin -Nizwa

We drive through to our first stop in Seeb – where we visit the local Fish market then we return to the highway to start our  visit to Nizwa, capital of the interior and birthplace of Islam in the Sultanate of Oman. Nizwa is famous for its Round Tower Fort, built in the 17th century, and the souq with its Friday cattle auction, ornamental silver jewelry and intricately hand-carved ‘khanjars’ (daggers). The historic town of Bahla is encircled by a winding wall and is famous for pottery as well as a large fort which is included on UNESCO’s world heritage list. Jabrin, built in the late 17th century and the finest of Oman’s castles, became a seat of Omani learning. The castle displays the highest achievement in Omani ceiling painting and has beautifully executed woodcarvings. In the afternoon we’ll have Dinner on the way returning to our hotel in Nizwa the stay at hotel including dinner and next day breakfast

Day 06  Nizwa – Sinaw-Bidiyah (oryx camp)

We start by a visit a local souq/market at Sinaw – where Bedouins of the region trade their animals, spices, vegetables and other foodstuff. We‘ll have our lunch on route – continue proceed the driving until the Oryx camp in Bidiyah ,evening well sand dunes adventure and see the Sun Sit  ,the Dinner and Overnight stay at Oryx Camp .

Day 07  Oryx camp – Arabian Sea

We start early morning 0630  through AlSharqyah Sand our adventure journey towards Arabian see to catch the marathon finish .
Lunch and dinner we’ll be at camp site on the coast . There we’ll be some traditional bands evening time.

Day 08  Arabian Sea – Wadi Bani Khalid- Oryx cam

Enjoy breakfast at camping  site .
We proceed to visit Wadi Bani Khalid. It comprises of small pretty villages embedded in the mountains. The Wadi has clear deep blue water. It is advisable to wear light comfortable clothing and walking shoes. – one of the most beautiful wadis in the mountains of Oman. Immediately next to the dry vastness of the desert we step into another world. The landscape is filled with lush greenery, fish in the clear blue waters of the pools.lunch we’ll be near spring water and dinner Party we’ll be at Oryx Camp then attend the marathon finishing ceremony .

Day 09 Sharqyah- Muscat.

After Finishing the breakfast we will check out from the camp & start driving to Muscat Airport direction.
